[logback-user] Failed to instantiate [ch.qos.logback.classic.LoggerContext]

By the look of the error message it's a null pointer exception (the
.getMessage() is blank, annoyingly from NPE).

I suggest you find the right place in logback and enhance the error
handling, and run your custom version on GAE to get more information.
