[slf4j-dev] is there anyone out there?

Hi Robert,

I don't know how many are 'lurking' on this list right now but I suspect it
is more than a few.

Possibly others (like myself) have been waiting for some interest to be
shown by the people who can make this project succeed i.e. yourself, the CL
committers and the log4j committers.

You're 'more or less civil' 'sparring' with Ceki is good to see. It shows
you both care a great deal about your software.

I can see that the CL developers have been putting a considerable amount of
effort into making CL more predictable in behaviour which is great to see
and will make many people happy, but it would be even better to see both
'camps' join forces on SLF4J to develop a new logging interface which is not
constrained by compatibility issues.

Obviously SLF4J will never replace CL as the user base of CL is huge, rather
the two will have to co-exist or SLF4J will never 'take off'.

I believe Ceki extended an invite to the CL developers to help with the
development of SLF4J and your experience would obviously be most useful in
the development of a new API.

Anyone else here?

Regards

Andy
