Well, this sounds impressive. I haven't had chance to measure it, so I must
believe you at this point. So if that's true, than it really makes the
difference.

Regarding PatternLayout: that's cool, but it does not apply to formatting
%message itself. (But I agree, that it is sufficient for most cases).
