--- Comment #31 from Ceki Gulcu <listid at qos.ch> 2009-03-25 15:13:22 ---
For the sake of clarity, any approach which relies on maintaining multiple
packages for slf4j-api is not going to fly. I categorically refuse to have our
users deal with multiple slf4j-api packages. As such, let us not pursue the
slf4j-api-jdk15 module approach any further.

Abandoning the idea of slf4j-api-jdk15 package does *not* mean the end of
varargs support, the actual problem we are all interested in. Let us refocus
the debate. Assuming that slf4j-api with varargs support would be binary
compatible with the current slf4j-api, then adding varargs support in
slf4j-api, in say SLF4J version 1.6.0, would require that users upgrade to JDK
1.5. There would be no other requirements. More importantly, various libraries
depending on different versions of SLF4J could live together without problems.

We'll have to poll users if they would agree with this change. If they did, and
assuming there are no unexpected compatibility issues, we could make a release
with varargs support later this year.
