Is there any chance that this issue will be resolved anytime soon?

I don't like the idea of two different Loggers, nor creating a different
slf4j-api-jdk15 artifact. IMHO if either of these happened, SLF4J could as well
be renamed to "Complicated Logging Facade for Java".

I'm all for dropping support for Java 1.4 in the next version. It is not as
though people opting to stay with Java 1.4 would have no good options to do
logging: log4j has been around for ages, and SLF4J 1.6 will still be available
to them. Announcing an EOL period for SLF4J 1.6 sounds like a good idea to me.
