I'd second the suggestion of syvalta to dump 1.4 support while bumping the
version to 2.0 given that J2SE 1.4.2 EOL transition period ends on 2008-10-30.

We should probably celebrate that date ;)

I'd still keep all methods in the Logger API to stay runtime compatible with
previous versions, obviously.
