Ralph, I haven't missed your comment.

We aim for different things, though.

While XLogger extends Logger (which is fine by me) I tried to actually reduce
the API while staying compile-time compatible.

Also, as far as I can tell, your changes do not include support for #70 which
is quite important - it's a common mistake trying to use parameters with a
Throwable, which results in the Throwable not showing up right now.

My suggestion isn't meant as a quick solution but as a base for discussion of
the direction this API might take.
