New Zealand is a little far but maybe you can still have a look at the 
changes to LoggerFactory allowing for the "factory adapter factory" to be 
set from the system properties. It's about 20 lines of additional code in 
LoggerFactory with *no* changes to the client interface.

In conjunction with a JNDI type "factory adapter factory", one could have 
different logger factory adapter per web-app.
