Since it's a collaborative effort, parts of it most likely are of US origin.

Distinguishing software by country or origin does not make much sense to 
me. I'd expect export restrictions to apply regardless of the origin of 
the components that your product was assembled from.
E.g. if you're exporting munitions from the UK, the UK regulations would 
apply, regardless of whether you got the munitions from the U.S. or 
somewhere else, wouldn't they?

As far as I can tell, the only export restrictions that ever held for 
software were crypto-related, and SLF4J does not do any of that.

I'd expect that you wouldn't need an ECCN number, or a very broad one 
that applies to publicly available software.
