[logback-dev] documentation is confusing

As a note, when I go and look for "how do I format the config files again"?
What I want are some details in this page:

However, the top of that page is...pretty confusing.  It discusses
java objects and custom events. It's pretty confusing and makes it
hard to find.

Might be worth considering a cleanup somehow.  Some of the other doc
pages have a similar feel FWIW.
